Petroleum Engineer Jobs in Aberdeen, Scotland

Chevron Upstream Europe recruits recent graduates in Petroleum Engineering. Graduates are expected to contribute immediately and are placed in a real job from day one within the ‘Horizons’ programme which ensures that an appropriate level of mentoring, training and career guidance is available over the first few years of the individual’s career. Typically in the first five years, a new Petroleum Engineer can expect to gain experience in 2 – 3 assignments in different roles. This ensures that graduates gain a strong working knowledge of different disciplines (e.g. Reservoir Engineering, Production Engineering and/or different fields), understand the relationship between the different disciplines and make better informed career path decisions. Reservoir Engineers strive to understand the dynamics of oil and gas reservoirs using a variety of analytical and numerical techniques to model the flow of fluids within the rock and well bores. Typical responsibilities include building and history matching reservoir simulation models, production forecasting, reserves estimation, evaluation of new wells and work-over opportunities, and pressure transient analysis. A close working relationship is required with geoscientists, production engineers, operations personnel and drilling engineers to ensure the uncertainties and interactions of any project are captured in the production forecasts and economics. Production Engineers specialise in reservoir surveillance, production optimisation and flow assurance. Typical responsibilities include production monitoring and optimisation, identification of production problems and design and implementation of solutions, modeling of wellbore and pipeline flows and production allocation. Team work is essential in working with reservoir engineers, operations personnel, drilling engineers and service providers and vendors to ensure production rates are optimised.
