Subsea technology

Subsea technology, subject area especially developed in connection with oil and gas exploration on the seabed. Includes template and manifold, subsea structures, flow lines, pipeline, electronics, hydraulics, underwater vehicles or diving for work on the seabed and on the chassis of the platforms. Modern electronics and hydraulics have largely replaced divers and submarines with remote intervention controlled submarines (ROVs), robots and special equipment.

Today, subsea wells account for about half of the oil and gas production, but subsea technology also has a significant transfer value to other related industries such as offshore wind, fish farming and mineral extraction on the seabed. The industry forms the basis for new industrial development and it is therefore valuable to know the past in order to understand the present and enter the future.

The technology section of the web site aim to include information as engineering how-to-do and tutorials and collection of technical facts.
