Girassol by Total

The Girassol field was discovered of the west coast of Angola in deepwaters in 1996 and the development project started in 1998, after an agreement between Total and the oil company Sonangol. The Girassol project was completed in 3,5 years with start of production late 2001 – The investment budget was $2.8 billion. Total is the operator with a 40% interest, together with Exxon Mobil, BP, Statoil and Norsk Hydro. Mar Profundo Girassol which was a consortium between Bouygues Offshore 50%, Stolt Offshore 50%, was the main contractors. Their sub-contractors was among others. Technip-Sofresid for engineering, Hyundai Heavy Industries for the construction of the FPSO and SBM for the Loading buoy.The Girassol field development consist of 39 sub sea wells: 23 producer wells, 14 water injectors and 2 wells, all tied into the FPSO. The Injectors was used for injecting the produced gas during the processing of the crude. The Girassol Angola subsea solution consisted of cluster manifolds. The field will be producing for 25 years.
