This position is targeting a fully developed Pipeline Integrity Engineer with world class pipeline integrity management (PIMS) experience, including the conceptual / practical development of PIMS, pipeline internal and external inspection techniques, inspection data interpretation, the development of pipeline revalidation strategies and intervention design and execution, who can have an immediate impact with little support or guidance. This is a position in the Exploration & Production Technology (EPT) organization in the Projects & Engineering (P&E) function, which is the centrally located engineering expertise for BP’s major projects and operations. In this technical role, the successful candidate will provide expert advice to the internal businesses (SPUs) on their PIMS design and application, support the development and application of risk-based pipeline assessment tools, support the development of pipeline revalidation strategies and associated guidance, advise the resolution of major pipeline integrity issues, support the development and maintenance of BP’s Engineering Technical Practices (ETPs), provide training to developing engineers and contribute to BP’s technology programmes. The successful candidate will work alongside BP’s discipline engineering experts and will be expected to develop into the next BP Group pipeline integrity management expert with an aspiration to be the Segment Engineering Technical Authority (SETA) at some point in the future. He/she must be a motivated self-starter, a great communicator and able to work with engineers and field operations staff. This position will reside in the Houston EPT Central Engineering Team with the occasional requirement to travel both nationally and internationally.
